DISCUSSION GUIDE
For Facilitators
(Suggestions for Organizations and Families follow.)
The Who-am-I-now Review structures every day
conversation and guides it to deeper levels of
meaning. Groups participants find the prompts comfortable
and stimulating. Be sure to do the Who-am-I-now Review
yourself before introducing it to a group.
When Who-am-I-now Review responses will be shared in
groups, participants must know this in advance.
Participants should retain written responses. Expect
variation in participation and responses. Some prompts may
not apply to everyone.
1. Begin by asking participants to write event titles
(prompt 8) on boards or paper and post around the room. This
relaxes the group, generates laugher and eases participants
into the sharing of stories.
2. Break participants into small groups according to
similar event titles. Ask them to share responses to prompts.
The dynamics of the event are more important than the event
itself. Alternative: ask participants to talk through their
events – to tell them as a story.
3. Pay particular attention to prompts 4, 5, 6, 7.
Coping, tradeoffs, perceived barriers and resources. This may
be your opportunity to suggest alternatives, provide
information and describe available resources.
4. Reflection and wrap up
5. Share your experience of how you used the
Who-am-I-now Review with your organization or family. We
appreciate your feedback.
